A writer and a performer, Barry Yourgrau is the author of unique books of surreal brief tales including the sadness of sex, in whose film version he starred. He has also authored a memoir, Mess. He's appeared on MTV, NPR, and written for the NY Times, Newyorker.com, Wall Street Journal, Paris Review, Vice, and Huffington Post. Born in South Africa, he came to the U.S. as a child and lives in New York and Instanbul.
