About the Book + Author
Asian-American author, Deborah Sanwal learned to cook traditional Punjabi cuisine over 35 years ago in the kitchen of her vegetarian mother-in-law. This memoir and cookbook chronicles one year in the author's life, when in 1982 she and her fiancé moved to Punjab to prepare for and ultimately celebrate their wedding. Inspired by the time and attention her mother-in-law paid to the daily task of cooking food for her family, Deborah set out on a mission to preserve and share their time-honored family recipes. It is the perfect introduction to North Indian cuisine and culture.
