About the Book
They may not have received any ovations on Oscar night, but with this book in-hand you will hear resounding long-overdue applause.
Burt Lancaster won the Best Actor Oscar for Elmer Gantry (1960), so surely his equally impressive costar, Jean Simmons, won as Best Actress, right? Nope. Well, Simmons certainly came close, narrowly losing the award on the big night, correct? Absolutely not. Wait...Jean Simmons was NOT EVEN NOMINATED? How could that be?
In addition to Simmons, this book looks at thirty-nine other flabber-gasting omissions of a very specific type. Not only ignored, these stellar performers saw their costars take home the big prize. These head-scratching boo-boos must be rectified—at the very least—with full-blown appraisals.
