We are excited to bring a new Kinokuniya store within the city of Katy which is part of the greater Houston area in Autumn 2019. This Katy store will be the fourth store in Texas, and the 14th store in the United States.
The year 2019 marks the 50th anniversary for Kinokuniya USA. Since we opened our first store in San Francisco 50 years ago, we have consistently grown and adapted to meet the needs of this ever- changing society.
For our Katy store, our goal is to bring back the experience of traditional bookstores while continuing to evolve the role bookstores play in communities. We aim to provide a space where people from different cultures and values can come together to share and stimulate their intellectual curiosities.
Our Japanese roots will bring a unique experience to the Katy store, providing a home for Japanese cultural experiences within the Greater Houston Metropolitan area. And, by absorbing the unique and diverse local culture of Houston, the Katy store will become a hub for universal experiences, products and people.
The new store will also feature a “Makerspace”. This will be an area for conducting workshops, presentations, and lectures, aimed at providing interactive experiences that will allow customers to connect with people from different backgrounds, and to establish new communities.
If you are interested in doing an event or selling your products, please contact the store manager, Shigekazu Watanabe (firstname.lastname@example.org).
