Dear Valued Customers,
In response to the evolving global coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we will temporarily close our Kinokuniya USA and Mai Do stores in New York and Los Angeles area from March 20. All remaining locations will temporarily close from March 21. These closures will remain until further notice.
We have so far continued store operations by taking all necessary preventive measures against the new coronavirus in order to live up to our customers’ expectations. However, we are now in a critical time to flatten the curve for COVID-19, and our top priority is ensuring the health and safety of our customers and staff members. We deeply regret any inconvenience to our customers, but we will endeavor to be back into service once this crisis is over.
During the period of temporary store closure, the Customer Service Center, Library Sales & Wholesale Dept., Export Dept., Logistics Center, and back offices will continue partial operations by limited staff members working from home.
Home delivery services for magazine subscriptions will remain unchanged. Unfortunately, In-Store Pick Up services for special orders and magazine subscriptions will be unavailable until after your local Kinokuniya Bookstore re-opens. We are very grateful for your patience and understanding.
As a friendly reminder, you may make special orders via phone or email. However, until our NY shipping office reopens, we will only be able to ship imported books from Japan. During the temporary closure of our stores, please consider ordering $50+ of goods to receive free shipping & handling. Orders under $50 are still subject to an $8 shipping fee. For special orders, please contact our Customer Service with the contact information below.
We will continue to monitor the situation and follow guidance from the CDC and local authorities, and will reassess or adjust our policies accordingly as the situation unfolds.
We sincerely thank you for your continued loyalty and support, and we hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy during this time of uncertainty.
The Kinokuniya Team
