Manga artist, Aiya Kyu will be at our San Francisco store and will be signing the manga “The Rising of the Shield Hero” The signing session will start at 3pm and tickets are required to attend this event.

On Saturday, January 27 we did celebrate the release of the final volume 63 of Hiro Mashima's legendary fantasy manga Fairy Tail at our New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Carrollton, Seattle, and San Francisco stores.
He had a lot of fun hiding in our stores, exploring the neighborhood and saying hi to people! Thank you to Smiski for visiting, and also everyone who welcomed him at our stores!

Although they like to stay hidden, you might discover one at night as they mysteriously glow in the dark. It is interesting to see the many types of Smiski all with different personalities and character. However, just why they exist in the first place, nobody quite knows….”
Our San Francisco welcomed horror storyteller, writer, and artist, Hirokatsu Kihara on November 11 and 12, 2016. Friday night started with a horror storytelling. He shared haunted stories that happened in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and London.
On October 30, San Francisco welcomed artist James Jean for a talk and signing event. The event started at 6pm but hardcore fans lined up before the store opening at 10:30am for book purchases and tickets. Fans filled the store very quickly to get a glimpse of James Jean and listen to him talk about his latest release, Pareidolia. James also conducted a Halloween constume contest where one lucky winner received a very special gift from James. The signing lasted several hours after the talk event. We thank each fan for their patience as they waited for their items to get signed, and we thank James for his visit and time!
Our San Francisco store welcomed Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo of Tonko House. Their debut project, The Dam Keeper is a short animation film that was nominated for the Academy Awards in 2014. At the height of their career at Pixar, the two decided to leave and start their new company, Tonko House. Dice and Robert spoke about their decision to leave Pixar, how it was to start their own company, the difficulties and struggles to do something they have never done before, and the even bigger happiness they have achieved by doing so.
Illustrator, Katsuya "Terra" Terada, visited Kinokuniya San Francisco on Saturday, July 19, 2013. There, he made this amazing sketch with just a marker in under 2 hours with no pencil outline! The final drawing can still be seen on the first floor entrance at our San Francisco store.
