What is "Fool's Paper"?
A paper called "Foolscap paper" appeared in the detective novel series Sherlock Holmes by British author Conan Doyle in the 19th century. The paper was so-called because it had a watermark of a fool's cap on it. Although "foolscap" only refers to the paper size that is slightly narrower and longer than A4, Japanese Fool's Paper refers to the highest class writing paper with excellent writing suitability.
