Mykytiuk (library science, Purdue U.) has developed an identification system to compare and verify names in the Hebrew Bible with those in Northwest Semitic inscriptions. Here, he describes that system in detail, showing the criteria he uses to establish the level of certainty of identification. Next he shows how he has applied this system in the case of two stelae from before the Persian Era, working from a series of questions asking whether a biblical figure is also named in one of the stelae. He includes his findings, and an index of modern authors and editors. Annotation 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
