Approval Plan

Kinokuniya’s Approval Plan Service is designed to enrich your library’s holdings and streamline your operations.  Through careful consideration of your library’s needs and budget, our expert staff can customize your collection.  Here’s how it works:

  1. Tell us about your library.  Simply fill in our questionnaire to let us know the required subject areas, your budget, price range, preferred shipping schedule, and more.

  2. Our knowledgeable staff then searches our up-to-date book database to find the titles that best fit your criteria.  With multiple distribution channels we have access to a vast selection of books.

  3. We can either purchase the selected books automatically, or we can send you your customized booklist, giving you the opportunity to choose exactly what you need.

BookWebPro

BookWeb Pro (BWP) is Kinokuniya’s robust online book portal, designed specifically for libraries, corporate users and researchers. 


Key features:

  • Bibliographic data for over 16 million titles in English and Japanese, sorted by Nippon Decimal Classification (Japanese Books), Dewey Decimal Classification (English Books), and Kinokuniya’s original classification system (KDC), allowing for efficient searches.

  • Place your orders individually or by uploading a CSV file for bulk orders.  Helpful tools allow you to easily spot duplicate orders and check your order status.

  • BWP allows you to set up separate accounts for users and administrators.  Users can place purchase requests which can then be approved or rejected by the administrator.

  • Title lists are provided for a variety of categories, including trade titles, academic titles, our recommendations, and titles reviewed in the media.
