In-Store Pickup

We check stock at the pickup location and let you know when it's ready for pickup.
If the items are in stock at the pickup location, we will have them ready for pickup as quickly as we can.

In Stock at the store	We process your order within 3 business days and notify you for pickup by email.
Out of Stock at the store	We get items from suppliers. The estimated arrival time at the store depends on the book type, such as English, Japanese or Chinese books. Please refer to the information below. We will notify you when it's ready for pickup.

Japanese Books 

We import Japanese books upon receiving online orders.
For urgent requests, please contact your nearest store to inquire about their in-store stock, and our staff will be happy to check the item availability.

In Stock at Fulfillment Center in Japan	Importing from Japan to our warehouse in Chicago typically takes approximately 7 - 10 business days. We will email you a tracking number as we process shipping from Chicago.
In Stock	In stock at our warehouse in the U.S. We usually ship out within 1 to 3 working days.
Available for order from suppliers / Out of Stock	This item is currently out of stock at our fulfillment center in Japan. We will order it from our suppliers in Japan, and it then takes about 12 - 15 days to be delivered at our warehouse in Chicago. We will email you tracking information as we process shipping. We will do our best to fulfill your order, but depending on stock availability, your order may be cancelled. If the availability estimate changes or any items in your order prove to be unavailable, we will inform you by email.
Available for Pre-order	The latest release date information will be displayed on the product detail page. Pre-ordered items will be delivered to the fulfillment center after the release date, and then we process shipping accordingly.
Not Available	This item is currently unavailable and we don't know when or if this item will be available again.

English Books

Chinese Books

If the items are out of stock at our fulfillment center in the U.S., we import Chinese books upon receiving online orders.

Available for order from suppliers / Out of Stock	This item is currently out of stock at the fulfillment center. It takes 4 - 5 weeks to receive items from suppliers overseas. We will do our best to fulfill your order, but depending on stock availability, your order may be cancelled. If the availability estimate changes or any items in your order prove to be unavailable, we will inform you by email.
Available for Pre-order	The latest release date information will be displayed on the product detail page. Pre-ordered items will be delivered to the fulfillment center after the release date, and then we process shipping accordingly.

Shipping Options & Rates

In-Store Pickup

We offer free in-store pickup at our Kinokuniya USA locations.
There will be no shipping fee applied.
You can choose the store locations when checking out your online orders.

*Please note that the online store does not offer an option to use gift cards for in-store pick-up orders. If you would like to use a Kinokuniya Gift Card to pay for your in-store pickup orders, contact the store directly, and our store staff will help you to order and apply the gift card towards your payment.

Shipping within the U.S.  

Free Shipping on $50+ orders

Orders totaling more than $50 ( before tax) qualify for Free Shipping within the United States.
In the event that your order’s cost drops below $50 due to the cancellation of unavailable items, your order will still be eligible for free shipping.

Standard $8 Shipping Fee

An $8 shipping fee is applied to orders totaling under $50 (before tax). 
Express Shipping is possible at the customer's expense. Costs may vary.

• Items may be dispatched from different locations and arrive separately since we have several fulfillment center locations.  Even if you receive multiple packages for one order, your delivery fee will remain the same.

• Re-shipping fees will be charged on any shipment that needs to be re-shipped as a result of a customer providing an incorrect shipping address at the time of checkout.

• We currently do not offer the service to ship items from one order to multiple addresses.

International Shipping

Shipping fee: $23.00 Fixed Processing Charge + $6.00 per item 

• Delivery charges for international shipping depend on the number of items and the country of destination.

• The customer is responsible for all charges, including customs, re-shipping, and any extra fees due to country regulations.

• International orders cannot be split.  

Return Policy

Return Policies for Online Store Purchase

* Please note this policy applies to Online Store purchases only. If you purchase items at our physical stores, please check the store's return policy. 

• Returns or exchanges must be initiated within 30 days of purchase.

• All returned items must be in original condition; shrink-wrapped products must be unopened and tags must be attached.

• Blind box items cannot be exchanged or returned.

• Shipping charges are non-refundable.

• Products must be returned to the designated warehouse/office at customer's expense.

• Kinokuniya USA reserves the right to decline exchange or return requests if the product has been used, opened, or in question.

• If you receive damaged items, please contact us and provide the order number and detailed information including photos about the damage.
